My daughter thought it was ominous and spooky - we drove down the road too and she didn't like it one bit. She was using her powerful imagination. I knew where the road led and had no such feeling of pervasive gloom. But it begs the question, roads are possibility. Where do they lead? Where can it take you? Will you change once you go down the path?
I think that's probably why photos and artwork of roads are one of my all-time favorite things. It is up to us to make of it as we will
